‘The Village: Achiara’s Secret’ k-drama review

Hey everyone. So this is first ever review I’m doing on my blog of the first ever k-dramas I’ve watched. As I’m learning Korean as my 4th language, my Korean teacher suggested me to watch k-dramas, it’ll be helpful. And she was very right, it was helpful and I also loved the drama. So let’s start the review…

  • Title: The Village: Achiara’s Secret (2015)
  • Cast: Moon Geun-young and Yook Sung-jae
  • Genre: Thriller, Mystery
  • Director: Lee Yong-suk (SBS)
  • Writer: Do Hyun-jung
  • Language: Korean
  • IMDb rating: 7.3/10
  • Google users: 96% liked this show

My opinion…

Full stars. I truly think it was a masterpiece… actors, script, direction, music, suspense, thrill and mystery.. it was a full package. (I know it’s not a new drama, but I think more people should watch this)

The first scene starts in Canada.. Han So-yoon finds an old letter for her in her late grandma’s belongings. The letter was sent from Achiara, S. Korea. As So-yoon used to think that her family (mom, dad and elder sister) had died in a car accident in Seoul, she has no relatives in Korea. But after her Grandma’s death she was all alone and in search to find who sent her that letter from Korea, she left Canada and got a job of an English teacher in the same village called Achiara. On her first day in the village, she accidentally discovers a buried corpse by the lake of Achiara. As the town people speculate on the identity of the corpse and the reason she was killed, rookie policeman Park Woo-jae team up with So-yoon to uncover the secrets hidden in the mysterious town.

And in my opinion, here’s where the story starts. Someone intentionally calls Han So-yoon back to Korea where she struggles hard to reveal the village’s secret and to find about her family.

I really loved this drama, I just ended the last episode (of total 16 episodes) yesterday but I want to watch it again. There was also a topic about a rare disease and I think it was good to aware people about it. And all the actors from the kids to the old people, their work was amazing.

So guys hope you liked my first review. If you are interested in this drama, you can easily find the official playlist with really good and accurate subtitles on YouTube, I’m sure you’d like it.

Thanks for reading. Stay safe and have fun!
