One of my favorite things about the end-of-year season is to see how I spent the year as a music lover. I see it as a way to cherish the moments when my favorite artists lifted my spirits and helped me walk through the seasons in both good and bad times.
So as 2023 comes to an end, I thought it to be a nice idea to share my 2023 playlist with y’all and well, just another excuse to fangirl over my favorite artists. Another reason behind this post is that I haven’t really done a song-recommendations post in a while, and since there’s still some time before we all start vibing to our future 2024-latest hits, let’s see what we had this year…

My Top Songs

And the crown goes to…. RUBY by Taeyong. Oh the beauty of this song… I don’t have words to describe how much I love this track. Knowing how personal this song is to the singer himself, as a fan I already knew before its release that Ruby is going to be very special. And it exceeded all my expectations.
- 2023 made me a fan of Day6. Their music is so unique and artistic. Though the song ‘Hi Hello’ still reminds me of a horrifying accident I was fortunately able to get away from, it’s a song that brings me peace and makes me realize how music can make our life prettier and more comfortable.
- I’m looking forward to listen to more of Fujii Kaze in the new year. This one performance I’ve linked below was enough to make me a sucker for Japanese songs. Like just look at the way he performs Shinunoga e-wa… It’s just so so so good!
- Now continuing my story as a Day6 fan, I found out that Jae Park, who is also my bias, left the band in 2019 and started his solo career under the name eaJ. When I searched for his solo songs, I came across this amazing track named Car Crash. I highly recommend this song to all of you if you haven’t already listened to it. It’s such a hit!
- 404 file not found – now where do I start. The lyrics, the beats, the vocals, the rap… everything on this track is just on point. Taeyong never fails to amaze me with his skills. Not only Ruby but each and every track on his solo debut mini album was a pleasure to the ears.

My Artist of the Year

As expected, NCT 127 again! They’ve been my top artist since 2021 and that’s when I started listening to NCT. Their b-sides are pure gems and I’m not even exaggerating. Every song has a different vibe of its own and I simply adore it. And then their albums just keep getting better and better. Fact Check would probably be one of my top 3 albums released in 2023. And of course I never stopped listening to their old songs. My recent favorite song will be the title track of their winter special album (which was just released 2 days before my birthday haha❤️) – Be there for me.
My Top Artists

- I listened to a lot of Taylor Swift this year and did I became the biggest fan of her during the Era’s tour!? Yes I did. Her songs are magical, so are her performances. My top TS song of 2023 will be ‘this is me trying’. This song just makes me wanna cry every time I hear it and it’s just gorgeous.
- 2023 was literally a ‘finding comfort in anime’ year for me. And RADWIMPS made it so memorable for me. I don’t know how many times I watched Weathering with you, Your name, and Suzume this year, just to listen to their music. They had to be my favorite artists this year, I wish I knew them earlier. If you want some pleasant music for your ears everyone, go listen to this band right now.
- Now where do I start about NCT Dream… they’re fabulous! Literally the most interesting kpop group I could ever find. They have such a variety of songs and the members are talented like damn. I mostly started listening to them this year and though I didn’t check out many of their songs, I couldn’t help myself playing the songs I know on repeat. ‘Candy’ was the queen for me in 2023.
While I’m talking about my favorite artists, there’s no way you ain’t gonna hear “BTS”. I mostly watched their performances this year on YouTube, especially performances of their old songs like Fire, Butterfly, Run, etc. I was literally in tears everytime I heard their Japanese songs like Lights, Let go and Crystal snow. That era was some pure magic. I love their solo songs too but it just doesn’t feel the same anymore. I can’t wait for their comeback as a team in 2025. For now, I’m obsessed with some songs on Jung Kook’s album Golden, like Shot glass of tears, Yes or no, Standing next to you, and 3D. Let me know your favorite songs on the album in the comments!
So that’s all about my 2023 in music. Let me know which songs made your comfort zone throughout the year. See you soon! And happy new year!!! (Hoping for my progress with guitar playing in 2024!)
