“You said you want to spread love and positivity. You’ve proven that to me, now prove that TO THE WORLD.”
These past months have shown me a side of the world that I never wanted to see. Different groups of people dividing humanity into pieces. Some choose to stay silent while some try and die to make their voices heard.
Where do we belong? ‘ALL EYES ON RAFAH’ is not a trend. ‘ALL EYES ON GENOCIDE’, it is not a trend. No matter how big or small of a following we have, it is the small movements that create a big impact. And people need help. The least we can do is to show the world that they are not alone.
If by sharing a post on social media, it leads a few more people to donate, to understand, if it empowers a few more people to speak about it… then this is my responsibility.
Of course, nobody is bound to do it. But we should know that every single voice matters. A single instagram story alone by Ariana Grande raised £40,000 for humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza. I hope more people come forward and use their voices for good because it is needed.
Here some people come to defend their favorites by giving arguments like they are too popular, it can affect their image and stuff… hear me out. The Weekend is one of the top global artists and he donated $2 million to provide food for Palestinians. And he is still the no. 1 artist on spotify with the largest amount of monthly listeners. Moreover, he has gained more respect from all over the world for his actions.
Artists have an influence on people and when they raise their voice, it motivates their fans to raise their voices higher and that’s how a change is made.
Being a k-pop fan for years, it is disheartening to see how many k-pop idols are restricted to speak up on this issue by their companies. Yesterday I came across this video where a fan commented under Seventeen member Dokyeom’s live, asking him to raise his hand if they are not allowed by the company to speak on this issue, and he did. It is just sad that they have to put everything at risk to speak the truth.
Some companies are also doing collaborations under their artists’ name with other companies that are funding the genocide in Gaza. Though now a new wave is seen in the industry after NCT member Taeyong, despite being an active soldier, called for a boycott of his own group’s collaboration with Starbucks. On Weibo, the hashtag surpassed 73m views and majority of the responses were positive. A user on X commented:
“In my country, most ppl don’t pay much attention to this, but because of Taeyong’s statement and it became a trend on Weibo, more and more people know about it, and start to boycott some brands and donate money. Fully respect🫡”
It is the domino effect of one person raising their voice that is now inspiring other idols to speak up too. That’s how big of an impact a voice can make. A lot of artists don’t want to stir public opinions too much because they might get blocked by big institution who’s in powerful position and it is understandable. But I hope more artists use their platforms to spread awareness because with the power we hold, we can make a difference for a good cause.
I’ve been a fangirl for years and I know how big of an impact we can make if all the fandoms work together. My fellow BTS army, I’ve always admired you for standing against injustice, please keep doing more to spread awareness. It is our time to show the world what we can do. They are just like me and you. They are humans with interests who love the same things as we do.
And here I hope people remember who we are actually fighting for, for the victims of genocide, not for celebrities. Many are centering famous people too much when the main priority and focus should be always on Palestinians.
This is not about politics anymore. Nobody has to belong to a specific nation or religion to see that this suffering needs to stop. We cannot let their voices go unheard.
I’ve never wished for peace more than I do now every day, every night before going to bed I pray that tomorrow I do not have to see people justifying a genocide, deliberately using goods from companies that are funding this humanitarian crisis going on in the world right now, I pray that I do not have to see someone rolling their eyes on protesting people and saying “I’m tired of seeing it”. And above everything, I pray for those who are ‘tired of living it.’
At this point, no one can say that they didn’t know.
“Don’t you feel guilty too, to have this privilege that you even ignore it?”
We can help them…
Here’s what we can do…
- Use your platforms and SPEAK UP. Don’t let the voices of Palestinians go unheard.

Why do fireflies have to die so soon?
I can hear the sobbing skies, I can see the tearful eyes. A silent ache that screams inside me, burns with grief as I witness this grave of fireflies. Each passing day, each fleeting hour, a precious soul, a blooming flower, is praying for life. How can I bear the starlit night,…
