Since childhood, it’s been a tradition for me to make garlands of marigold flowers and decorate every single door and window in the house during Diwali. Though nowadays, people prefer to just buy flowers from market right on the day of the occasion and celebrate, but for me, being grown up in a house hearing my mom and dad telling us decades old stories behind every single tree in our yard, I would always choose filling my own place with flowers and let them be my decoration and happiness.

We have a lot of saplings this year and my plan is to plant them at every corner of our yard where we don’t usually pay much attention to. Reason? Well, at the entrances and everywhere else we already have other flowers and plants, so I think this time I should give the non-significant places a chance to glow up.

Marigold blossoms are one of the reasons why I love the diwali season so much. These vibrant yellow, orange and red colors of these flowers fill the whole atmosphere with joy, and are also believed to bring good fortune. Not to mention, they look so beautiful when used in rangolis.

Though these saplings that I planted are of red-orange marigolds only. Sadly, we don’t have them in any other color this year, but I’ll see if someone in my neighborhood has yellow or orange marigolds, so I can plant them in my garden too if there’s any space left.
For now, I just can’t wait for my plants to grow and bloom. I’ll definitely share a lot of pictures with y’all when they grow up.
