Why I don’t like movies a lot

Movies have been a part of people’s life. Especially in India, people love movies and movie stars so much. No offense to them, cause I myself like many actors/actresses and movies too. But not too much, I have my own reasons for why I don’t like movies that much, why I like to watch the movies I’ve already watched, why I barely watch movies- sometimes only one in a month. In today’s post, I’m gonna share all my love-hate relations with movies.

(Note: This post is completely based on my personal opinions. I also like movies, so no offense to movie lovers)

Here is why I don’t like movies a lot…

Too much reality haunts me

With too much reality, I simply mean to say- the bad things and too much negativity. It’s a bitter truth that we all know. Yesterday, my cousin and siblings planned to watch a new movie that has an excellent rating on IMDb and the genre is something like psycho-crime type. I had nothing else to do so I also joined them. I have a problem that I can’t leave a movie in between, especially when it is something like full of mysteries. It was indeed a good movie and I liked it too, but the crime scenes were just too terrifying and pointing to the reality… like this is the real world, it’s unfortunately not a fairytale. It was around 10 pm when the movie ended and I was also okay, I worked on a few posts then went to sleep around 11:30. Honestly, I couldn’t sleep at all. I was thinking about the movie all night long and was completely frustrated. Unintentionally, I disturbed my Mom and said I can’t sleep. Then we went outside for a walk and finally I could sleep. And the result was, I woke up at 10 am today.

Movies always leave an impact on me, most of the time a positive one but it becomes hard for me to handle the negativity. You don’t have to worry about me, I’m completely fine now. Watching news is totally enough for me to know what’s going on and the reality of this world, so I can’t stand movies. (Now let me watch something refreshing first, and then I’ll be able to continue this post)

It’s okay for me to watch something I’ve already watched

Because I know how the ending will be. Most of the movies have a happy ending but many times we don’t like the ending even if it’s happy because we didn’t like what happened in between. If I’m watching a movie for the first time and didn’t like it then I probably won’t watch it again, if I’m watching a movie for the first time and liked it but if it leaves a negative impact on me just like the movie I watched yesterday did, I’ll never watch it again. But the movies like Avengers series, Disney movies, Barbie movies, and other animations, and also comedy movies like Dhamaal and Golmaal… I can watch them on repeat!

I don’t even remember how many times I’ve watched all the Marvel movies, especially the Avengers series! Even if the ending of Avengers wasn’t a very happy ending since we lost Iron Man and Black Widow but it doesn’t affect me because I know it’s not happening in reality. But the movie I watched yesterday was a reflection of reality, the cruel world. I can never get bored by a good movie; at least it doesn’t fill me up with negative emotions. That’s why I like the movies which are far from reality, they are always comforting.

Why I barely watch movies

I was only excited to watch Avengers: Endgame when it got released because I’m a huge fan of Marvel and who wasn’t curious to know what the ending will be of this iconic series. Except for Endgame I never felt excited to watch a new movie. Actually, no one in my family is a big movie lover. My mom likes to watch dramas, tv shows, and news. My dad also likes to watch news. My brother watches anime and sometimes movies like we watched yesterday. My sister is like me, we like to watch music-related content and sometimes we watch k-dramas.

I only watch the movies I’ve already watched and like. I have no interest in romantic movies, I watch comedy-horror-action-science fiction-mystery-themed movies though. I just can’t stand the crime genre. For me, books and music are much better than movies. But it feels good to watch them sometimes with family.

That’s all for today’s post. I have no idea what was my point behind writing this, maybe I was just trying to feel better after sharing all my thoughts.

What are your thoughts on movies? Could you relate to any of my points? Let me know your views on this post in the comment section.

Once again you’ve proven how much we are so alike!!
Even i hate.. Hate watching movies buti never admitted to anyone because here all my family and friends love it. Then I’ll be the odd one out.
But I do watch series, anime with some comedy, fictional and a happy ending story. I also like dark themes but never had the courage to overcome it. The dark scenes, it haunts me at night and I somehow seems to be upset about a situation that happened in that movie.

I live by the policy music and books for life 😉🎶📚

Indeed movies must reflect the general situations of life,
        But sometimes they exaggerate..

Omg – I don’t like watching movies either! People always make me feel like I’m odd for that but I just don’t like sitting and watching something for so long. I’d rather watch shorter episodes of a show. 🤷🙈

I cannot watch ‘civil war’ more than once , just because the group gets divided, similarly I couldn’t watch ‘infinity war’ more than once because they lose… so I also take the movie and its characters by my heart….. don’t watch many but if I watch something I will get way too indulged. 😅😅
