4 Things To Do When You’re on A Blogging Break

I’m quite familiar with blogging breaks now. I’ve talked about why every blogger deserves a break from blogging time-to-time plus even about the disadvantages I had of taking a long blogging break. As bloggers and writers, we often get to face those annoying writing slumps when our brains don’t seem to think of new and creative ideas, there are also times when we just get so busy in our real life that managing a blog with it feels distracting and hard, and that’s when you decide to take a break from blogging.

Taking a blogging break is okay and you should when you think you need to. But completely leaving your blog abandoned is a mistake that I have made that you should not. You take a break from blogging but there are still some important things you can do while being on hiatus to make your blogging break productive.

Promote Old Posts

Blogging is not just about hitting that Publish button, you’ve got to engage and promote your content too. And honestly, it can be hard and sometimes even annoying to do so many things at once. But your blogging break gives you enough time to promote the content you’ve already published on your site. Share your popular old posts on social media so that your site’s new readers get to read more of your content.

Discover More Blogs

Community is important. You must support others’ work to get the support back. As bloggers, our work is not only writing and publishing but also engaging in the community and reading other bloggers’ content as well. Discovering new blogs to read is one of the most fun things to do in the blogosphere. There’s no lack of good content. The more you discover, the better you get to read quality posts. You can use the time you got from your break to engage more in the community and find new blogs to read. And not to forget, genuine comments that you leave after reading one’s posts are always better than likes.

Keep Writing

This is a must. You should definitely not stop writing at all because you’re on a break, doesn’t matter how much you write just try to write every day so that you don’t lose your habit. This way, at the end, you may have some good posts to share with your audience when you get back into blogging, otherwise, it can be a bit hard to manage things like writing, promoting, catching up with the blogs you follow, leaving comments etc. all together right after you come back from blogging hiatus.

Enjoy Your Break

And last but not least – enjoy your break. Have fun doing the other things you like, and also work hard for the reason you decided to take a blogging break. That’s how you can make your break worth it. Spend some time outside in the fresh air, avoiding the screen for a while. Stay in touch with your blogging friends, talking to them will increase your excitement to come back. Sometimes it’s even difficult to start blogging again when you’ve been occupied with so much work already but you should remember the reason why you started blogging and that your readers are waiting for you.

A very helpful post. I agree with everything you said. Even if you are on a blogging break, at least try to read what others have published. Community is important ❤️✨

Doing something towards the growth and success of your blog even while you’re on a hiatus really helps. I’ve been on a few hiatuses and I can agree that if you keep on writing, it helps when you return from your hiatus🌼.

    A beautiful blog poorwa !
About the break, I never took a break longer than 1 week, After 1 week I feel like I want to return here anyhow. Break gives me time to come up with new ideas with which I can feel a connection.
I never took any break from learning and exploring, if I’m not writing, then I visit other’s page to learn from them. Likewise I have gathered attention of many amazing bloggers, and also talked a few of them about collaboration.
Also, I have an another blog suggestion to you just after reading this blog.

Hey Poorwa! Happy to connect with you and again read your content because here I am, another blogger who took a big blogging break even before I gave enough time for my blog. I am planning a level ahead this time for my blog. I will be happy to stay connected with you. Keep blogging!
