Hey everyone!
So today’s post is based on a post request I got from one of my non-blogging readers, about how to write an Introduction Post to get started with a blog.
Well, to be honest, I don’t think Introduction posts are really necessary but I can’t deny the fact that these posts are a great way to build communication with the blogging community easily in a short period of time. Plus, I often find myself searching for new blogs and reading their introduction posts so I think these posts have their own magic to attract readers.
To make it clear – I didn’t write any introductory post for my blog when I first started blogging, though I published a belated introduction to my blog later on which was loved a lot by you all. So basically what I’m trying to say is that it’s not necessary to publish an introduction post as the first post on your blog. Well, it can definitely be a good start but if you want to publish something else then it’s totally up to your wish, you can always publish an introduction post – basically, a ‘what my blog is about’ post later on whenever you want.
So without any further ado, let’s get started…

Introduce yourself
In my two years of blogging, I’ve noticed that readers are more interested in the writer/person behind the blog. Of course, they like and care about your content too but whenever I discover a new blog or read an introduction post, I just go and visit their About Me page. You don’t have to give your name, picture, or talk about anything you don’t want to, but a good introduction to yourself can make your readers visit your website on a regular basis. You can share some facts about yourself or write about things you like. It’s like when I find a new blogger with similar thoughts and interests as mine, I genuinely want to stick with their blog. And we all want such readers who are like us, don’t we?
Tell what your blog is about
After you introduce yourself, in most cases people will scroll down and want to read more from you. Now it’s time to give your blog the center stage. Tell us what your blog is about. What things do you like to write about? As a reader, I think this is a very important section; most of the tags you have to add will come from here. So make sure to write only useful things here that will make it more likely for a reader to click on that follow button.
Why did you start blogging?
This is a question that every blogger gets asked not once but many times. Basically, this is something people are curious to know about. The story behind your blog… if you don’t have one then just make up something like “I had a dream last night where I was a successful blogger and found my real passion” – hey I was just kidding, don’t do that – NO! There might be something that would have inspired you or something else – I think we all have something to tell to our readers, it doesn’t have to be something really interesting or mysterious… simple and real always works.
Don’t make it too long
Very important! Really, don’t make it too long. Introduction posts should be brief, like not too short but if you’ve talked about all the three points I’ve listed above, then your post won’t be too short and not long either. You don’t have to use headings if you don’t want to, you can make it casual and fun, just don’t write in big paragraphs and use separators. Create an attractive featured image using Canva or simply use a bright and cheery free stock image to feature on your post. You can also leave a friendly question at the end of your post like you can ask your readers if they have a blog and what they like to write about.
So these were some tips that I hope can be helpful while writing an introduction post for your blog. As I said, you are always free to write about your blog and introduce yourself whenever you want, it’s not necessary to do that only in your first post. I hope this post was helpful to those who aspire to create a new blog and as I know most of my readers have been blogging for a while now – What would you like to add to this list?
What was your first blog post about? What’s the story behind your blog?
