“you know it’s not the same as it was”
How many times have I already listened to this song and now the complete album is here!!!
Hey everyone! I’m back with another album review. And today I’ll be doing a review of as you’ve already guessed from the title – Harry’s House – the long-awaited third album by Harry Styles released on May 20, 2022. The album contains 13 songs having As It Was as the lead single and Late Night Talking as the second single from the album.
I had been really excited about this album since the release of As It Was on April 1st. I’ve always been a fan of Harry’s music and his unique style that always stands out, in a way – his music brings people together. So without any further ado, let’s tune into Harry’s House…

Music For a Sushi Restaurant
Alright… so this song has made my day. What a delicious start to the album!? I don’t know it’s giving me a vibe like there’s so much more coming your way, it’s just the start. The beats are totally fine and enough to make you feel like jumping and screaming at the same time. Here’s some behind story of the song Harry revealed in a recent interview…
“I was in a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles with my producer and one of our songs came on from the last album, and I kind of said, like, “This is really strange music for a sushi restaurant.”
Late Night Talking
Favorite!!! I love that classic, 70s-esque vibe this song is giving. I don’t like a lot of songs at my first listen but this one really made me fall for it within the very first seconds I tuned into it. The lyrics are absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend this to everyone.
If you’re feeling down, I just wanna make you happier, baby
Wish I was around, I just wanna make you happier, baby
Grapejuice
These kinds of songs are just unskippable for me. It sounds soothing and the background music gives it a nostalgic vibe. I personally loved the first verse a lot. Wish it was a little longer with a bridge.
Yesterday, it finally came, a sunny afternoon
I was on my way to buy some flowers for you (Ooh-ooh)
Thought that we could hide away in a corner of the heath
There’s never been someone who’s so perfect for me
As It Was
The attention As It Was has been getting since its release it would be hard for anyone to not have listened to it yet. It earned the Guinness World Records title for the most streamed track on Spotify within 24 hours by a male artist and broke the Apple Music streaming record for most first-day streams for a 2022 release.
And yet again an artist released a masterpiece – people have started to call it ‘overrated’. Anyway, I love the flow of the song, it’s quite upbeat but Harry singing in kind of a sorrowful voice gives it a perfect balance. Harry described the song as about “metamorphosis, embracing change and former self, perspective shift and all that kind of stuff.” The lyrics seem to hold a deeper meaning to him and in a way I think we can all relate to this song. A must-listen, and yes… don’t forget to check out its live performance as well.
Daylight
Though the drums after the chorus sound a bit unnecessary to me, I’m liking this song. There’s a line that reminded me of One Direction’s song – If I Could Fly, which is one of my favorite songs by them and its lyrics “If I could fly, I’d be coming right back home to you”.
If I was a bluebird, I would fly to you
You’d be the spoon
Dip you in honey so I could be sticking to you
Little Freak
Little Freak is a melodious ballad that focuses on Harry’s house and the background music gives it a nostalgic vibe. It’s like recreating the memories of two people and mesmerizing the time they spent together. This doesn’t really stand out for me in front of the other songs of this album I’ve listened to so far, still, I’d recommend you to check it out.
Matilda
This song is inspired by the movie/book Matilda, in which Harry sings to someone whose family didn’t treat them well. The lyrics are beautiful and sad at the same time. I’ve already listened to it more than 10 times and I’m nearly in tears. I love this lyric change in the last chorus…
You can throw a party full of everyone you know
first chorus
And not invite your family ’cause they never showed you love
You don’t have to be sorry for leavin’ and growin’ up, mmhm
You can throw a party full of everyone you know
ending chorus
You can start a family who will always show you love
You don’t have to be sorry for doin’ it on your own
Cinema
Cinema is quite dreamy and cool but honestly, I didn’t really like it that much. The outro part seems to have the main focus and that’s pretty unnecessarily long. Maybe I’ll like it better after listening to it a few more times. For now, let’s move on to the next song.
Daydreaming
I really want to recommend this one to all of you. Like I can’t say it’s my favorite but it’s very refreshing and fun. A song you want to listen to when you’re really happy and want to dance while running. And only Harry Styles can add that crazy vibe this song has, I just love him when he does that “ooh-ooh Ahh”.
Keep Driving
A shout out to the writers of this song. I really liked the lyrics a lot. The beats are slow and gloomy I like occasionally but that’s not my all-time favorite stuff. This song is about ignoring all the harsh realities, letting go with the flow, and just… Keep Driving.
Satellite
This song is such a vibe. One of my favorites on this album. The lyrics are really special and I’m loving the chorus a lot right now. You should definitely check it out. Here are my favorite lyrics from the song…
Spinnin’ out, waitin’ for ya to pull me in
I can see you’re lonely down there
Don’t you know that I am right here?
Boyfriends
The song begins with a reversed intro, “Hoo / Niaga ti ta kcab er’uoy, loof,” which translates to “Ooh Fool, you’re back at it again.” Harry sings about the way many boyfriends tend to mistreat their partners, detailing the foolish behaviors of their partners. It’s a really good acoustic track and easily likable. Harry also gave a beautiful acoustic performance I’ve linked below, don’t forget to check it out.
You’re no closer to him
Now you’re halfway home
Only callin’ you when
He don’t wanna be alone
Oh, and you go
But why? You don’t know
Love of My Life
He’s such a versatile singer I must say, I especially love his vocals in this one a lot. It’s simple and beautiful. It’s about falling out of a relationship with someone just to realize that this person was the love of your life since forever, it has always been them. I really liked this line a lot- “Woah, maybe you don’t know it’s lost ’til you find it”. It’s a perfect song to give the album a sweet ending.
Baby, you were the love of my life
Woah, maybe you don’t know it’s lost ’til you find it
It’s not what I wanted, to leave you behind
Don’t know where you’ll land when you fly
But, baby, you were the love of my life
My thoughts…
⭐4.7 out of 5
Favorite song (overall): As It Was / Late Night Talking
Favorite song (lyrically): Matilda
It’s freaking GOOD!!! I love how the whole album kept me in such a calm state while listening to it. Every song was different from the other and I loved how all of them hold different emotions and means. Some songs made me dance and some were so deep. The mood was totally laying on green grass under the blue sky watching the clouds chasing each other and listening to his soothing vocals.
The singles couldn’t be any better and I’m totally addicted to them. I chose Matilda as my favorite song lyrically because it expresses the theme of the album so well.
“Home feeling isn’t something that you get from a house. It’s more of an internal thing. You realize that when you stop for a minute.”
Have you listened to Harry’s House yet? What’s your favorite song from the album?
