My monthly wrap-up posts are usually filled with rants and me complaining about this pretty-busy life, but today I’m personally very happy to tell you that January 2024 was quite an exception for me.
It turned out to be an almost-perfect month which I had not expected at all and I’m very thankful for that because you know, as I have my third-semester finals in February, I need to kick off the month in a good mood so that exams don’t stress me out the way they tend to do every time.
So without any further ado, let’s get started with the month-review…

Memorable moments…
- 1st of January didn’t begin with very cheery vibes as I had to help my brother with a project of his that he had to submit the next day and it was just so boring. But around noon, my uncle and their family gave us a surprise visit and we spent the whole day singing karaoke, sitting in a big circle around the fire, eating homemade sweets and it was just wholesome.
- Around the end of the first week, I was literally jumping when I got the news that my exams had been postponed that were supposed to start on Jan 6th. I mean what could be a better news than that for students lol.
- Then there was this dream I had, I guess it was on 15, which was really, really sweet. There was a breathtaking sunset, a really beautiful lake, and this special person whom I admire a lot and we had a long, comfortable conversation of which I only remember a few things now, still when I woke up it felt like a precious memory.
- I, with my sister and cousins went to a park on this Sunday, and had lots of fun spending the day with them. Talking about the park, it was very dull as there had been an accident a month ago and the water system was destroyed by the fire. I hope they fix it soon, I honestly felt so bad watching all the small plants die like that.
- And the last but definitely the best moment, was my first ever video chat with our precious blogging friend – Selene @P.I.M & PINK. We both were nervous at first but then we got so comfortable we talked for more than 3 hours straight. Oh Selene, if you’re reading this, I want to say that you’re really the sweetest person I’ve ever known and I also want to thank your family for supporting this blog, especially Charles. Girl, I can’t wait to see you again!

Books/Movies/Series/Anime/Shows
It’s my first time adding ‘books’ in my monthly wrap-up I think. Yes, I like books a lot but I was never a reader before 2023. But last year, I read about a dozen books and that’s a very good start in my opinion. I also read the Harry Potter series for the 2nd time and finished reading the Deathly Hallows in January. That makes only one book this month but I’ve added many to my list and I’m looking forward to reading them in the following months.
As for the movies, I watched The Excorcist: Believer and Interstellar. Interstellar had been on my watchlist for a long time and I’m glad to have finally watched it. What a great movie it was! Really loved it. I didn’t have much expectations from The Exorcist: Believer, as I kinda hated the movie The Exorcist, but the 2023 edition was a freaking good horror movie. Like it’s not like it became my favorite but as for the horror part, it worked for me. I watched so many horror movies last year but none of them were scary and I was annoyed because of that, but this one actually gave me some big jump-scares so I don’t regret watching it.
I rewatched a lot of movies on the other hand, most of which were anime movies like The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Your Name, Spirited Away, Your Name, Weathering With You, and Suzume. I watched Squid Game again and the trauma though lasted shorter than the last time, still hit hard. Then as I was at home almost all of January, apparently preparing for exams, I started watching AGT: Extreme on TV and it has been fun so far.
Artist of the Month
*drum roll* RADWIMPS!! Oh watching their performances has become my new obsession. It makes me feel like I’m a part of the audience and there’s just some magic in their music, which is so unique. I must start learning how to read Japanese in March for real, like their songs are literally made to sing along and you can’t imagine how much I want to be able to do that.
Song recommendations:
- Seikai – RADWIMPS
- Kanata Haluka – RADWIMPS
- Everything, Everywhere – Vaultboy, eaJ
- Yes or No – Jungkook
- White Lie – NCT 127
- Koi Fariyaad – Jagjit Singh (and why does this ghazal make me want to say there’s literally nothing better than this, like jinjja!)
Time Spent with Hobbies
Okay, I’m really proud to say that I gave fair time to all my hobbies this month. I practiced my guitar, and also learned to play Taylor Swift’s Fearless on it, so that’s quite an achievement. I’ve also made a 26-day streak on Duolingo with my Korean classes so I hope to keep it up. I’m not sure if this is too early to make a commitment but by the end of the year, I hope to have become an advanced learner, so I can start learning Japanese too. Then if I talk about my progress with drawing, I think I’m doing pretty well. Though I only made one sketch in January, it turned out to be my best one yet and I’m very proud of it. Now I want to learn how to draw full body structure and also try drawing different scenery from my imagination, so for me, that will be something to work on in the upcoming months.
Oh wait, I almost forgot to tell you this. So I wrote my first poem in Hindi last night and I want to share it with you guys so please stay tuned for my next post. Actually, I was just doing this ‘making fake scenarios’ thing while trying to sleep and it just came to me randomly. I hope you will like it!
So that’s all for today’s post. I personally enjoyed writing this wrap-up post a lot, and I hope you enjoyed reading too.
