Monthly Wrap-up | May 2024

Oh I don’t know where to start. Not because I got so many things to tell you about my May 2024, but because I don’t have a clue what was I doing the whole month. Like yeah, I do remember a few things like I was busy with college work all month and then there was this cruel summer that made me feel sick all the time. So I guess that’s how I spent most of my month, but let me dig it up a little deeper here…

Movies

I’m on my way to becoming a new Ghibli fan. Howl’s Moving Castle that had been on my list for a long time, I finally watched it. If I compare it with the other Ghibli movies I’ve watched yet, it doesn’t really stand out for me but I won’t deny that it was overall a good one. I think I will like it more after a rewatch.

Then at the end of the month, I checked out My Neighbor Totoro. Honestly I didn’t have a lot of expectations from this movie, I just thought that this movie isn’t for me but I still ended up watching for the sake of my inner child. And guess what? I just loved this movie. It was funny, cute and comforting. Recommended for when you are feeling tired and want to just relax.

Now, the last but definitely one of the best movies I’ve watched in a while, we have Dead Poets Society. So this one too was on my watchlist for a few years, but I would always forget about it when I sat down to watch a movie, but recently it had been on my Instagram feed too often that I had to watch it. I kept thinking about this movie for weeks after watching, it was just different and the quotes from the movie… ahh beautiful. Guys, recommend me more movies like this.

Books

So for books, I completed none in May but yes, I transferred some books from my Want to Read list to my Currently Reading list. These books are – To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (totally loving it), A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder (so into it!), The Book of Azrael (I’ll give this one a bit more time and read it after I’m done with the other two), and The Fault In Our Stars. I actually started The Fault in Our Stars in February, but I left it in between and then tried to start reading it again. But for now, I will only focus on the first two books because they deserve credit to get me out of my reading slump.

Songs

I am surprised at myself that I’m gonna say this, me who takes playlists for breakfast, lunch, dinner and anytime snacks, music didn’t fit in anywhere last month. Maybe the reason points somewhere towards my overthinking. While listening to my favorite songs, I just want to be totally into it, which I mostly do, but at times when I can’t focus even after trying, I just turn it off. Because it just makes me feel worse like I’m insulting the song somehow. The only artist I listened to attentively last month was aespa. They’ve become my favorite kpop girl group. They’ve got this unique charm that makes them stand out, and oh my gosh, their concepts and music…. Just wow! They also released their new album at the end of May, and I’m loving it.

So here you go, my playlist of May…

Life

Both good and bad, I can say that. It was more of a stressful month. We had to submit these assignments at first, and then came seminars, and then our internal exams. Like it was a nightmare! But I’m glad to say that I tackled all of that quite well. I even got a big applause from our professor for my presentation on OOPs concepts, which was a win-win because I really put great effort in it. And for the tests, I think I was just too lucky this time because for all the major subjects, the long-answer type questions were related to my seminar topics, so I just smashed all my seminar-preparation into writing lol.

I can’t believe my second year of university is going to be over so soon. Like I’ve just started getting to know my classmates this semester, and you know they are really good people. I’ve never felt closer to any batch I’ve ever been in before. But it’s all going too fast. Where is the slow down button?

Oh, no I don’t want to slow down everything, seriously. Last month was just too hot, like it’s been a bad summer really. And I can’t imagine how it will be next year, and so on. As June started, for a few days I felt like the weather is cooling down a bit but no, I was wrong. Phew, when will monsoon be here officially?

How’s the weather there? I wanted to post this monthly wrap-up earlier but because of circumstances I got late again. Anyways, I’m glad that I posted it still. I hope June has been treating you well.

I’ll see you soon with another post. Till then you can check out my previous posts if you haven’t already. Take care!

You’re very welcome! Yes, I’m sure I will, too. <3
It has some tough scenes and some characters have a rough background, but I feel like that adds to the strength of the plot. Awesome!
That sounds great, and I am! Hope you are, as well.
