31 days of blogging: Here’s what Blogtober taught me

This post was supposed to come out last week but because of some unexpected circumstances, I had to take a small break from blogging after Diwali. Well, I’m back now!! And as I promised in my Blogtober recap post, today I’m going to talk about some things I learned after participating for the first time in Blogtober and completing my goal of publishing 30 posts last month.

One plan failed doesn’t mean game over

So when I decided I would be blogging every day for the month of October, my big plan for success was to create a perfect schedule and assign each day of the month with a preplanned blog post idea so every day I would already know what I’m going to post. Ha, don’t ask me how badly that plan failed. I never finished even taking the first step towards making that schedule. The same way, I had some other great ideas for making my blogtober journey easier, and again I couldn’t follow through most of them. But still, I made it somehow, right? I just knew that I wanted to do it no matter what, so I kept trying and at the end, it paid off. So don’t lose hope, it doesn’t matter how many times nothing goes according to the plan, the thing is – if you want to do it, then you can do it.

You’ll always find friends along the way

To be honest, I wasn’t really much excited about Blogtober at first. I only decided to participate a couple days ago before the event began. The main reason why I gave it a try was because I wanted to get over my writer’s block and also wanted some kind of distraction that would keep me busy other than uni work and daily life drama. Not to mention, I was (and maybe still am) going through a complicated phase which constantly led to overthinking, and I wanted to avoid it. Blogtober helped with that really, but the first week was so hard, I was missing my blogging friends more than ever. I often questioned myself why am I really doing this alone, but then I found my friend Maggie doing the Blogtober challenge and having her with me really sparked an energy inside me. Soon, I began to find more blogs who were participating alongside and it just made me so happy to be a part of the event. I realized I was never alone to begin with.

Your hobbies matter more than you realize

Never let go of the things that bring you peace and joy. Your happiness matters. Even if what you’re doing gets stressful, if it’s something you like doing, then at the end you will be happy that you didn’t quit. One thing can result in many more great things that you never even expected. Through Blogtober, I discovered all over again my love for writing, got a chance to connect with my old blogger friends, and somehow it made me feel like I’m being heard which led me to  finally cutting off toxic people from my comfort spaces and beginning anew.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. Let me know your thoughts on it in the comment section below. See you soon!
