From Writer’s Block to Daily Posts: Blogtober 2024 Begins

Yes, you read that right! It’s time for a challenge.

I know, I know… me appearing out of nowhere after weeks of being MIA and then announcing I’m taking part in a blogging event that challenges you to write and post every single day of October? Yeah, well, I can be weird sometimes (most of the time/all of the time?).

(To know more about what is Blogtober and how to participate, click here.)

It started as taking some time off the internet when I realized my screen time had started affecting my mental health. I’m not going in much detail for now since you’ll be hearing a lot from me for the rest of October hopefully and this is something I’ve been wanting to talk about for a long time so we’ll get there soon.

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes. So after a small break, I tried to start writing again, but then found myself struggling with writer’s block. Point to be noted, this was a new kind of writer’s block I faced this time. It didn’t really made me struggle with writing in general, rather I just couldn’t finish whatever I wrote and some pieces went too personal that I had to shove them back inside.

I used one of the most popular remedies to dispel a writer’s block, that was again just taking a break from writing. And did that help this time? Sadly, no (The why’s and how’s… I’ll talk about that in some other post). Hence, I decided to put plan B into action and here I am.

If taking a break doesn’t help, then challenge yourself.

I would like to thank Helen for her helpful advice on how to deal with writer’s block and also for inspiring me to take part in the blogtober this year. If it wasn’t for her blog post, my small writing break would possibly be turning into another long hiatus.

Turns out, I’m not someone who functions very well with a lot of time on their hands. After my exams were over, I spent too much time doing nothing and that lead to me overthinking and its side effects. And I truly learned what they meant by the saying “an empty mind is the devil’s workshop.”

So participating in the blogtober this year, I hope to conquer this writer’s block, as well as to improve my writing skills. That being said, as I’m writing this, I literally have zero ideas for what I’m going to post the next day or the days after that, for now I’m just sticking with my main goal – that is to write every day. So hopefully, we’ll find a way to manage somehow. On a brighter note, I’m sure this is going to be fun.

So yeah, with this post and much excitement, hereby I announce my entry for Blogtober 2024. The highest number of posts I’ve ever published before on my blog in a single month was 25, and I hope to break my previous record with this challenge. I’ll try to post at the same time every day, but for the first week the timing may differ a little as it’ll take some time for me to adjust to my new schedule as my classes for the new semester have started, but we’ll try to get that right asap.

Here’s to a lovely October! See you soon!

Wow! Idk why I’m hearing about this for the first time. And to be honest, I’ve been in the same situation far more than I’d like to admit, and my blog, in itself is a commitment to never stop writing yk, even if once a month.
So, I’m certain that there are really good chances of you recovering from your writer’s block since you’ve made a commitment.

I’m so excited to see your upcoming posts! And oh my, 25 posts in a month?! Wow.

Also, it’s totally okay to not know what to write lol, everyone goes through that time to time!
This was too relatable, I only hv two exams left and I was thinking about my 10 days holiday, when I thought, damn, what if I waste it? (Like always) 😂
This seems like the perfect idea!

    All the best, Poorwa 💌

Just like tags and awards, I guess wordpress is slowly forgetting blogtober and blogmas too. It’s sad, but these things used to be so much fun back then, I refuse to let go.

Thank you so much Niveditha! I hope you’ll like them!
Haha I took consistency very seriously once lol

Good luck for your exams! And don’t worry, you deserve rest after exams lol, you won’t waste it

Thanks always❤️ Have a lovely october!

Haha, i used to do that but idk how i started to love taking naps after i entered clg 😂

at this rate we should conduct a research on this bullet train behavior of time bc it’s definitely not normal lol 2025 in three months??

Hi, Poorwa! 💕✨ I truly believe that you will be able to successfully do this challenge of posting everyday in October, for I think that it is a great, fun, and strategic way to conquer one’s writer’s block as well. ✨ I know that you will conquer your writer’s block, Poorwa, and your decision to do this challenge has also inspired me to want to challenge myself similarly ✨, especially since I could seriously relate to you when you said that you couldn’t finish what you wrote and how some pieces became too personal during your writing process, lol. 😆👩🏻‍💻 Overall, I hope and pray that you have a fun and lovely October, Blogtober, as well as a wonderful, new semester filled with joy, peace, fresh excitement, and inspiration, Poorwa. 🫶🏼🤍✨

      Thanks a lot, Charles!!
Yeah, I think I’m doing okay so far. It’s still hard to maintain a schedule though, because writing, editing, reading other blogs, plus daily classes at college… I have yet to figure out a way to post at the same time everyday.
Thank you for your support! I’ll try my best!
