Yes, you read that right! It’s time for a challenge.
I know, I know… me appearing out of nowhere after weeks of being MIA and then announcing I’m taking part in a blogging event that challenges you to write and post every single day of October? Yeah, well, I can be weird sometimes (most of the time/all of the time?).
(To know more about what is Blogtober and how to participate, click here.)
It started as taking some time off the internet when I realized my screen time had started affecting my mental health. I’m not going in much detail for now since you’ll be hearing a lot from me for the rest of October hopefully and this is something I’ve been wanting to talk about for a long time so we’ll get there soon.
Anyway, where was I? Oh yes. So after a small break, I tried to start writing again, but then found myself struggling with writer’s block. Point to be noted, this was a new kind of writer’s block I faced this time. It didn’t really made me struggle with writing in general, rather I just couldn’t finish whatever I wrote and some pieces went too personal that I had to shove them back inside.
I used one of the most popular remedies to dispel a writer’s block, that was again just taking a break from writing. And did that help this time? Sadly, no (The why’s and how’s… I’ll talk about that in some other post). Hence, I decided to put plan B into action and here I am.
If taking a break doesn’t help, then challenge yourself.
I would like to thank Helen for her helpful advice on how to deal with writer’s block and also for inspiring me to take part in the blogtober this year. If it wasn’t for her blog post, my small writing break would possibly be turning into another long hiatus.
Turns out, I’m not someone who functions very well with a lot of time on their hands. After my exams were over, I spent too much time doing nothing and that lead to me overthinking and its side effects. And I truly learned what they meant by the saying “an empty mind is the devil’s workshop.”
So participating in the blogtober this year, I hope to conquer this writer’s block, as well as to improve my writing skills. That being said, as I’m writing this, I literally have zero ideas for what I’m going to post the next day or the days after that, for now I’m just sticking with my main goal – that is to write every day. So hopefully, we’ll find a way to manage somehow. On a brighter note, I’m sure this is going to be fun.
So yeah, with this post and much excitement, hereby I announce my entry for Blogtober 2024. The highest number of posts I’ve ever published before on my blog in a single month was 25, and I hope to break my previous record with this challenge. I’ll try to post at the same time every day, but for the first week the timing may differ a little as it’ll take some time for me to adjust to my new schedule as my classes for the new semester have started, but we’ll try to get that right asap.
Here’s to a lovely October! See you soon!
