Remembering: A School Day In My Life

2 months ago, I thought everything is finally coming back to normal since my school started and we (my batch) were very happy. I even wrote a post “Going to school after a year” out of excitement but unfortunately, my excitement couldn’t last any longer. Corona cases increased like hell and lockdown again came in between. My exams got canceled and I’m not even a bit happy about it because I know it’ll come back as a black stain over student’s faces, since we got promotion to 12th grade… but was it our fault? We were ready for offline exams and had no problem with it. Also, I’m having a headache because of the increasing corona situation as many people are testing positive in my neighborhood. And I really don’t want online classes again, especially when I’m in 12th grade but on the other hand, I don’t want schools to open in this dangerous situation because I know it will only make it worse. I’m having millions of thoughts in my mind and I seriously don’t know what to do.

It’s my final year of school and I have already missed 11th grade, staying at home for the whole year but I don’t want it for this year too. I’m really missing my school days and badly want to go back. I miss when I was in 10th grade and all the fun we used to have. In this post, I’m gonna share how a school day in my life used to be. Not gonna talk about the previous month because it didn’t feel like real school at all, we’re gonna talk about how my school is, what we would do every day there, my daily routine of school, and many things. I hope you’ll like reading this post…

Remembering: A School Day In My Life

I’m not a morning person (but I want to be), I wake up late and I was the same in 10th grade too. Every morning whether my mom or my best friend (I call her Khubu) would wake me up. We often like to be each other’s morning alarm, and she would ask whether I’m going to school today or not. My batch is much disciplined when it comes to following school rules, we hate to absent classes and we even win the award of best attendance every year.

Since I don’t wake up early, I would get straight in getting ready for school fast. It was a battle for mom to make me eat my breakfast every day, I don’t know what happens to me but I don’t eat properly when I go to school, so she would always pack lunch for me and because of that all my friends also had to bring lunch every day. In 10th grade, I had my bicycle for half of the year to drop me to the school, and I and Khubu would always arrive at the school gate at the same time.

We would always find our friends at the door of the classroom and I would always love to see them waiting for us. 5 minutes before the bell would ring for morning prayer, we used to talk about all projects we have to do today and also about the homework, just to check that we have done everything or not.

Every day at our school, at least 7 students come up with GK questions and ask them in the morning prayer. We would always be so excited for our turn each week, I and my friend Riya would always love to guide the morning prayer whenever our seniors were absent. Riya and I have been friends since we were 4 and we are always so confident together, she’s always been my best partner in everything, whether it’s for dancing or giving commands, we’ve been together forever.

We had adjusted our classroom very well in 10th grade. There were four rows of desks and benches, and I used to sit with Riya… yes in front of the teacher’s desk. Take my advice if you don’t want to catch teacher’s attention in the classroom, take the closest desk around the teacher. Riya and I have a great experience in it, we always sit together and in front of the teacher so we can get better experience studying and also because that’s the safest place in the classroom.

Khubu and my loveliest friend Rani used to sit behind us, and it would be the best combination of friends ever. Our teachers always praise us, there are also some students in our batch who like to irritate everyone and don’t follow rules, but they are very important to us, a batch shouldn’t be too good right?

We would ask lots of questions during the lectures as it was boards and teachers would love that thing about us. During the free time, we would be the most naughty and funny students of the school. We would visit our juniors’ classrooms and can’t explain what we used to do but our juniors also like us a lot. We plant lots of trees and flowers in the campus and love to take care of them, so we would take a round of the whole campus to check everything’s okay or not. For fun, we would go to 10th A (there were two sections in 10th, I was in 10th B), if we were the most disciplined ones during the classes, they were the funniest ones. They never failed to light up my mood.

In 10th, most of the time we would write and write. Assignments, projects, classwork, homework, preparations for monthly tests, then exams, surprise tests were a headache…. And the list goes on. In India, every student becomes a writing expert when in 10th grade. Yes, we had to study a lot and people’s saying “boards” was definitely a huge mountain of pressure. When it’s something important, good students always become the target of everyone and I’m in that list. People start to expect just too much and it can really trouble the students.

We love group study a lot and when a teacher would be absent, we would study in a group of 4 to 5 friends or just me, Riya and Khubu together. Group studying is really effective and it wouldn’t let us feel boring otherwise we would enjoy studying a lot.

One thing I regretted in 10th grade that we couldn’t enjoy sports. We were all the time in our classroom- studying or having fun around but we wouldn’t go out and enjoy the sports period. I didn’t even play volleyball or badminton much which I love.

So that was all I could think of now. I hope you had fun reading A School Day in my life. I badly miss those days and hope this coronavirus ends soon, after all, it’s my last year of school… I’m gonna cry

I would love to know your version of this post, let’s talk about school days in the comment section.

Thanks for reading!

Aww…10th grade. It’s only been two months since I came in tenth grade and people have already started torturing me with their high expectations from me😂
Offline school is the best! I miss eighth grade which was the last year I attended offline school. Now, my classmates have been put in different sections and my bestie has moved to another city. I wonder if I’ll ever be able to enjoy school as much as I did before.

Your post brought back the beautiful memories to me. And it’s funny how most of our school day is similar 😂😄 Lovely post💖

Don’t worry, you’ll make new friends and adjust with them. When I came to 9th grade, many of my friends got seperated from me but see, the girl who is my bestie now, we met each other in 9th.
      Thanks so much Rosh ❤️
